Watch | SBI trains visually-impaired people to access ATM

Updated on May 07, 2016 06:06 pm IST

Officials of the State Bank of India (SBI) trained visually-impaired people in Nagpur to operate an Automated Teller Machine (ATM). They were assisted in the initiative by 'Atmadeepam', a social organisation working towards holistic development of the disabled, that is founded by Jidnyasa Chawaldhal. About 40 people queued up in front of the ATM in Nagpur with enthusiasm and learned how to use the machine. Chawaldhal, who is visually-challenged and was present at the event, said the session was very productive. Banks are usually reluctant to issue ATM cards to the visually-challenged. But, similar initiatives could extend the scope of inclusion for financial services.
