Indian-origin Varun Ghosh scripted history by becoming the first Australian Senator of Indian descent and taking oath on the Hindu holy book Bhagavad Gita. 38-year-old Varun Ghosh was elected to the Senate of Australia’s federal parliament from Western Australia. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese congratulated Ghosh while Foreign Minister Penny Wong hoped to see more senators taking oath on the Hindu holy book. Wong also wished Varun Ghosh success in becoming a strong voice for his community.
