IRGC goes ballistic? Why US Navy fears Iran’s tiny Ghadir subs more than China’s aircraft carriers

Iran has deployed its stealthy Ghadir-class mini submarines deep inside the Strait of Hormuz, raising fresh fears of a dangerous naval escalation with the United States. Iranian commanders say the submarines are positioned against “threats” in one of the world’s most critical oil chokepoints. Designed for shallow-water warfare, the tiny diesel-electric submarines can reportedly dive within seconds, lay naval mines and launch torpedoes from hidden positions. Analysts warn Hormuz’s crowded, noisy waters give Iran’s mini-subs a major tactical advantage against advanced U.S. anti-submarine systems, turning the narrow waterway into a potential nightmare zone for global shipping and American warships.
