A new proposal was presented by mediators U.S., Qatar, and Egypt to Hamas and Israeli delegations during the crucial talks held in Cairo over the weekend. The new proposal reportedly includes a six-week pause in fighting and a swap of 40 Hamas-held captives for at least 700 Palestinians imprisoned by Israel. Meanwhile, on April 8, Hamas confirmed it received the latest proposal by Israel through Qatari and Egyptian brokers. It called the offer “intransigent,” claiming it did not meet any of its demands.
