Israel locked horns with NATO nation Spain just days after the latter recognized Palestinian statehood. Israeli foreign minister, on May 31, threatened to close the Spanish consulate in Jerusalem. Israel Katz's reaction came after Spain rejected Israel's "restrictions" on the activities of its Jerusalem consulate. Spain's foreign minister accused Israel of violating international law.
