Israel-bound FlyDubai crash plot: Why did Omani co-pilot keep US base in Jordan as backup target?

Fresh details are emerging in the investigation into the attempted hijacking of a Flydubai flight bound for Israel. Israeli officials say the Omani co-pilot allegedly planned to crash the aircraft into Ben Gurion Airport and had a backup target in Jordan if that plan failed. Reports identify the possible target as a U.S. military base in Jordan, although investigators have not publicly confirmed the alleged target. The co-pilot allegedly attacked the captain before passengers and crew intervened, forcing an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. Authorities are continuing to investigate the motive and whether the suspect acted alone.
