On Feb 7, 2026, the Indian Embassy in Russia confirmed an “unfortunate” knife attack in Ufa in which several people—including four Indian students—were injured, and said it was in touch with local authorities while officials from the Consulate in Kazan headed to Ufa to assist. Reports said a 15-year-old entered a dormitory linked to the State Medical University in Ufa and stabbed students; two police officers were also stabbed during arrest resistance, and authorities launched an investigation.
