Latvia’s desperate bid to wow Europe as Trump shouts at Zelensky after Putin sets record straight?

Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braze has ignited major controversy after calling Vladimir Putin “the butcher in the Kremlin” during a sharp statement amid ongoing Geneva peace talks. Speaking as EU representatives gathered in Brussels, Braze claimed that one person — Putin — stands between a ceasefire, a peace deal, and support from both President Donald Trump and the European Union. Her remarks come as the US-backed 28-point peace plan continues to dominate headlines. The proposal reportedly requires Ukraine to concede key territory, hold new elections, limit its military, and rule out NATO membership, sparking intense debate across Europe. Although EU leaders hinted at a separate plan, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio insists no counter-proposal has been formally presented. Meanwhile, Donald Trump escalated pressure on Volodymyr Zelensky, accusing him of showing “zero gratitude” and warning that he expects a deal by Thanksgiving. Russia, however, claims it has received no official updates on the Geneva negotiations.
