Alt News, Boom Live and SM Haox Slayer debunk fake news. They monitor the barrage of stories produced on multiple platforms to identify information which prima facie appears false, verify it through software and if the information is indeed fake, relay the same on their sites. It was Alt News investigation that found out the truth of the IS rate card while Boom Live did a reverse search to prove that the image of man and a little girl with blood smeared on their faces, with accompanying text saying that they were making India secular by playing Holi with the blood of a cow, was actually a picture from Egypt. With the surge of digital platforms and penetration of smartphones, fake news reaches to much more people than before. Which means by the time the websites debunking fake news proves that an image or video is flawed, it has been shared among and believed by thousands of people.
