International Yoga day: Here are some basic yoga postures to improve health

Updated on Jun 20, 2015 06:13 pm IST

The benefits of yoga kick in from the moment you calm your mind and inhale deeply. Abeba Alemayehu, from New Delhi's Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Natraja Center demonstrates basic postures (asanas) that boost blood circulation, relieve back and neck pain, increase muscle strength, maintain hormonal balance, build immunity and improves mood, among others. A word of caution, though. Start under supervision if you are over 35 years, have never exercised, or have a medical condition.
