Venezuelan lawmaker Nicolás Maduro Guerra revealed that he spoke with his father, detained President Nicolás Maduro, for the first time since U.S. forces captured him in a dramatic military operation on January 3, 2026, known as “Operation Absolute Resolve.” Maduro Guerra made the comments while announcing a new Committee to Assist Family Members of Victims of the U.S. operation, a government-backed body designed to provide legal support and aid to those affected. He quoted his father sending strength and urged unity while promising justice for victims. Relatives of the deceased and injured spoke emotionally about their loss and called on the U.S. to be held accountable.
