Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra linked the Vande Mataram debate in Parliament to the 2026 West Bengal assembly polls, alleging the government has timed and framed the discussion to polarise voters in Bengal rather than out of genuine concern for the national song. She mocked the ruling party’s online ecosystem, saying “some half‑wit BJP IT cell minion” had twisted her past comments, and argued that while Vande Mataram belongs to all Indians, the BJP is weaponising it for election propaganda instead of addressing real issues like jobs and prices.
