Maldives’ President Elect, Mohamed Muizzu, won the election on the back of his ‘Out-India’ campaign. Since his victory in the September 2023 presidential elections, Muizzi has doubled down on his anti-India rhetoric, vowing to send Indian troops out of the country. However, the fact is that there is not even a single Indian troop stationed in Maldives. Additionally, the Indian aircraft in Maldives have led rescue & surveillance operations in the country, to help Male in times of crisis.
