NATO fighter jets reportedly shot down a drone after it entered Lithuanian airspace on September 15, triggering a rapid military response and fresh concerns over NATO’s eastern flank. The UAV was reportedly downed near Pratkunai village close to Kaunas, while Lithuanian authorities investigated its origin and possible target. President Gitanas Nauseda praised NATO’s swift response. The incident comes amid disputed previous UAV incursions and a Russian warning that Lithuania could become a nuclear target if it hosts nuclear weapons.
