Indigo awaits 500 aircraft ordered before Air India's mammoth deal

The Indian aviation sector is poised for a big leap, with over 1,200 new aircraft to join the fleets of the various Indian carriers. Indigo is awaiting approximately 500 aircraft as part of its European expansion plan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 14 said that more than 2,000 new planes would be needed in the next 15 years. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also lauded Air India's recent order, saying that it will help India connect with the rest of the world.
