China to hide covid truth? Beijing won't release numbers | Xi breaks silence

Chinese President Xi Jinping reacted for the first time to the ongoing COVID-19 situation wreaking havoc in the country. Jinping directed officials to take steps to "feasibly protect people's lives." China's Zhejiang Province, near Shanghai, reported over one million new daily infections. Experts say that the number of cases will double in the coming days. China's National Health Commission stopped releasing daily data, and only relevant data will now be released for study and reference by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
