India records 1st Omicron death in Rajasthan; Ministry warns of 6.3 times spike

- The Health Ministry on Wednesday warned that an upsurge of COVID-19 cases is being noticed in cities and the Omicron variant is the predominant circulating strain. Maharashtra, West Bengal, Delhi, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Jharkhand and Gujarat are emerging as states of concern. The Health Ministry also confirmed India’s first death linked to the Omicron variant of the coronavirus on Wednesday. One death of an elderly with comorbidities, including diabetes, had been reported from Rajasthan. Watch full video.
