Manipur Boils Again; Curfew Imposed After 5 Civilians Killed, 11 Officers Injured In Attacks

Fresh wave of violence hit Manipur again after a brief lull as at least five civilians were killed and nearly a dozen security forces were injured. Four civilians were killed in gunfire in Thoubal district on January 1. A day later, seven security personnel were injured in a militant attack in restive Tengnoupal district where 13 people were killed on December 4. Security forces had braved another militant attack in Tengnoupal on December 30. Nearly 200 people have been killed and around 50,000 displaced, according to the last updated figures by the government.
