Mumbai: 11 dead after 3-story building collapses in Malad following heavy rains

- A three-story building collapsed following heavy monsoon rains in Mumbai's Malad. Police said at least 11 people have died and seven others injured in the mishap. Fire brigade personnel have reached the spot, rescuers are searching for survivors. According to BMC, the incident took place at around 11pm on Wednesday. The civic body added that residents from three nearby buildings were also evacuated. Police said the injured including women, kids have been shifted to BDBA hospital. Maharashtra minister Aslam Shaikh reached the site and said the collapse happened due to rain. Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and its suburbs on Wednesday, causing flooding on roads. Water-logging on tracks disrupted suburban train services as monsoon arrived in the city.
