Pak, China lose big as UN blacklists ‘global terrorist’ Makki; 14 of 15 UNSC members backed India
Published on Jan 17, 2023 01:13 pm IST
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has listed Pakistan-based terrorist Abdul Rehman Makki as a global terrorist under its ISIL and Al-Qaida sanctions committee. Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Abdul Rehman Makki has been involved in planning several attacks in India. Makki is LeT's deputy chief and the brother-in-law of Mumbai terror attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed. This UNSC listing comes after China last year put a hold on India's bid to name the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander a global terrorist. China used the so-called "technical hold" as a permanent member of the UN Security Council to stop Makki's blacklisting. Watch this report for more..
