Sugar prices: Indian govt's big move as domestic costs see this change ahead of festive season…

The Centre has extended the deadline for sugar mills and refiners to surrender unused raw sugar import quotas until September 30. The move comes as domestic sugar prices have fallen while global prices have risen, making imports less attractive. The government had earlier allowed duty-free imports of 1 million tonnes of raw sugar to boost supplies and control prices ahead of the festive season.
