Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya told Rajya Sabha today that no case of newly emerged Omicron variant has been reported so far in India. He said that government is taking all precautions to ensure that the new covid strain do not enter the country and that it is contained at the earliest. Health Minister said that the suspected persons are being tested and their genome sequencing is also being done. First emerged in South Africa, the Omicron strain of the covid has spread to over 12 countries and created panic in the world with governments scrambling to prevent its transmission.
