Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared that India’s rivers and water resources will now be used exclusively for the nation’s benefit, marking a decisive shift in water policy amid escalating tensions with Pakistan over the Indus Waters Treaty. Speaking after India suspended the treaty in response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, Modi stated, “India’s water will flow only in India” and emphasized that water which once flowed outside the country will now be conserved and utilized for India’s interests.
