Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a blistering attack on the Congress from Assam, accusing the party of protecting “Bangladeshi infiltrators” and opposing the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to save its alleged vote bank. Modi claimed previous Congress governments encouraged illegal immigration from Bangladesh into Assam and the Northeast, allowing “infiltrators” to grab land and forests and threatening the state’s identity, while asserting that the BJP is now “correcting” these alleged mistakes.
