Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova denounced the EU’s newly approved €90 billion interest‑free loan for Ukraine as proof that “enlightened” Europe wants “bloodshed,” alleging that the money will fund Kyiv’s 2026–27 “military efforts” instead of rebuilding an economy that she claims the West itself destroyed. She mocked French President Emmanuel Macron’s suggestion that Ukraine will repay the loan only if Russia pays reparations, saying “any sane person” knows that will “never happen,” and portraying the package as a corrupt scheme through which Western “patrons of the Kyiv regime” expect to get their money back while pushing the war “to the last Ukrainian.”
