Russian General Sergei Surovikin, who is considered to be close to Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, has been dismissed as head of the country’s aerospace forces, a prominent journalist in Russia and media outlets have reported. While no formal announcement has been made yet, prominent Russian military bloggers have also echoed the claims. General Surovikin has not been seen in public since the failed Wagner mutiny in June. Some reports claim that he has been under house arrest, while others claim he is being investigated for his role in the mutiny. So is Putin punishing Surovikin for his ties with the Wagner chief?
