Rafales in flypast, Anti-Drone Systems: What’s new this Republic Day?

2022 marks a big change in Republic Day parade. Keeping COVID in mind, a lot of changes are being incorporated for the annual January 26 event. Apart from the early celebrations to commemorate Netaji Subash Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary, the Republic Day parade is set to begin half an hour later than usual this year. Before the parade begins, curated videos including footage from previous Republic Day Parades, short films on the Armed Forces, and stories about events leading up to Republic Day 2022 will be presented. The parade will later be broadcast live on the screens. This Republic Day, India will witness grandest flypast of 75 aircraft including Rafale jets, it will also see anti-drone systems being deployed for added security at Rajpath, the shortest guest list in wake of COVID, and no chief guest from central Asian countries.
