Rubio admits Washington doesn’t know if Moscow is ‘serious’ about peace

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has admitted uncertainty over whether Russia is truly willing to compromise in ongoing peace negotiations with Ukraine. Speaking after his remarks at the Munich Security Conference, Rubio said Washington is still testing Moscow’s seriousness about ending the war and whether acceptable terms can be reached for Kyiv. He dismissed claims that Russia is merely stalling for time, pointing to continued U.S. sanctions and efforts to restrict Russian oil sales, including pressure on India. With the war nearing its fourth year, new peace talks between Ukrainian and Russian representatives are expected in Geneva next week.
