Russian President Vladimir Putin undertook a trip to the Middle East amid a raging war in the region. Putin toured the United Arab Emirates for a rare visit outside Russia since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. His visit came amidst the raging war in Gaza. Russia has been vocal against Israel’s war in Gaza, criticising Tel Aviv, particularly for the soaring civilian casualties in the besieged Palestinian enclave.
