Russian President Vladimir Putin outlined Moscow’s priorities as Russia assumes chairmanship of the CSTO in 2026, under the theme “Collective Security in a Multipolar World.” Speaking at the CSTO summit, Putin pledged deeper military integration, the development of a new anti-terrorism strategy, and the expansion of joint exercises and peacekeeping capabilities. He announced plans to equip CSTO forces with modern Russian weapons proven in real combat, develop air defence cooperation, and strengthen cybersecurity and biosafety measures. Putin also proposed an international forum in Moscow to build a new security architecture for Eurasia, promising closer technological, defence, and intelligence cooperation across member states.
