Thiruvananthapuram students' 'sit-on-lap' protest backed by Mayor. Here's why

Bus stop bench reduced to three separate seats in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Area residents' bid to prevent girls & boys from sitting together irked students. Shunning shallow mentality, students sat on each other's laps & shared pics. Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya S. Rajendran lauded the stand taken by the students. The area residents, on the other hand, opposed the students' conduct & behaviour. However, the residents denied the seats were deliberately separated into three. The city Mayor promised a new gender neutral bus stop with WiFi facility.
