Neeraj Chopra bags historic gold, takes India's medal tally to best ever

Neeraj Chopra bagged a historic gold medal in the men's javelin in Tokyo Olympics. He became independent India's first athlete to win a medal in track & field discipline. English-Indian athlete Norman Pritchard had won 2 silver medals in the 1900 Games. Chopra threw a distance of 87.58 in his second attempt to win the gold medal. He became the 2nd Indian to win an individual Olympic gold medal after Abhinav Bindra. Neeraj Chopra’s gold took India’s medal count to seven at the Tokyo Olympics President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Modi congratulated Neeraj Chopra for winning the gold medal at Tokyo Olympics.
