U.S slams China for 'manipulating, restricting' UN Rights Chief's Xinjiang visit

There are about 12 million Uyghurs, mostly Muslim, living in china's Xinjiang region. The Uyghurs speak their own language and see themselves as culturally close to Central Asia. China has been orchestrating the migration of the ethnic majority to dilute the minority Uyghur population. China has also been accused of banning religious practices in the region. Reports suggest China has been forcibly mass sterilising Uyghur women. France, Canada, UK, Australia & Netherlands have accused China of committing genocide. Over the past few years, China has detained over a million Uyghurs against their will.
