The United States has carried out its 20th military strike in the Caribbean targeting what the administration calls “narco-terrorist” networks operating near Venezuela. This came as U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced Operation Southern Spear targeting drug traffickers in the Caribbean. The latest strike on November 10 hit an alleged drug-trafficking vessel, killing four, according to a U.S. defense official. Since September, U.S. strikes on boats near Venezuela have killed 80 people, with the military using fighter jets, drones, and gunships across the region. Reports say officials are also weighing potential land strikes inside Venezuela, though no decision has been made. The campaign is generating pushback from legal experts and friction with key allies. The UK has stopped sharing suspected drug-related maritime intelligence with the U.S., and Colombia has suspended intel-sharing until the attacks cease.
