Sonia Gandhi to stay on, AICC gets 6 months to find new Congress President
Updated on Aug 24, 2020 11:32 pm IST
On a day of high drama at the Congress Working Committee meet, Sonia Gandhi agreed to remain the party president till a new chief is announced in the next meeting of the party's apex body with the next six months. The day also saw accusations being exchanged between the dissenters and those backing Gandhi family with Rahul Gandhi questioning the timing of the dissent letter that 23 Congress leaders shot to Sonia. With the CWC calling for structural overhaul, it appears that the highest decision-making body of the party has taken a middle path to quell the leadership crisis that many believe is plaguing India's oldest political party.
