China shuts down embassy in Pak? Beijing clarifies amid Consular Hall closure

Tensions between Pakistan and its all-weather friend China are escalating. China has temporarily shut down the consular hall of its embassy in Pakistan due to 'technical issues'. This comes days after Chinese citizens in Pakistan were advised by the Xi Jinping govt to be cautious due to the deteriorating security situation. The embassy on its website did not provide details about the nature of the 'technical issue'. Pakistan has witnessed a rise in terror attacks since the TTP called off a truce with the government. Various terrorist groups have also targeted Chinese nationals working on the CPEC, aiming to threaten a major segment of the Belt and Road Initiative.
