China test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile into the Pacific Ocean on September 25. This was the first publicly acknowledged test of an ICBM done by Beijing. The Chinese Defence Ministry, in a statement, said that "the ICBM, carrying a dummy warhead, fell into expected sea areas" and also called it a "routine arrangement" in their annual training plan and not directed at any country or target.
