The former German chief of staff, Harald Kujat, and former NATO Military Committee Chairman has warned that the West was 'fatally' mistaken in their assumption about the Russia-Ukraine war. He told Germany's Overton Magazine that "it would be a fatal mistake to believe that Ukraine’s prospects will improve the longer the war continues." He also added that “the American government was apparently convinced that Russia could be permanently weakened politically, economically, and militarily by continuing the conflict, but the results showed otherwise."
