Hunger grows as limited aid reaches people in Mosul

In western Mosul, where fighting between Iraqi forces and the Islamic State group continues, food is hard to find for residents that stayed behind. NGOs (non-governmental organisations) are rarely entering the western part of the city because it's too dangerous for them to operate. Mosul resident Ibrahim Khalil claimed they were literally starving to death. A few NGOs do operate in the area, but it's far from enough, according to programme manager of Norwegian People's Aid (NPA), Alto Labetubun. With no jobs and a destroyed city, residents living on the frontline are struggling to find food, especially as aid is not reaching them. Aliyah Hussein cooks for 25 family members. Every now and then, she receives a bit of aid, but she says it's not enough.
