India has thanked Iranian authorities after Tehran released five Indian sailors on board the Israel-linked vessel that was seized by the IRGC on April 13. In a brief statement on May 9, the Indian Embassy in Iran said, "5 of the Indian sailors on MSC Aries have been released and departed from Iran today evening. We appreciate the Iranian authorities for their close coordination with the Embassy and Indian Consulate in Bandar Abbas." Earlier, Ann Tessa Joseph, one of the 17 Indian crew members, returned safely to Kerala on April 18.
