- The world's first planetary defence test conducted by NASA was successful. NASA's DART spacecraft has successfully crashed into the asteroid Dimorphos. The spaceship struck an asteroid seven million miles away in order to deflect its orbit. This historic mission was carried out by NASA to test humanity's ability to prevent a celestial object from devastating life on Earth. The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) impactor hit its target, the space rock Dimorphos, at 4.44 am IST on September 27, as per plan. The collision comes 10 months after the dart blasted off from California. Watch this landmark planetary defence test.
