Newsom's 'pathetic' takedown: Europeans told to grow a spine over Trump's tariff war on Greenland

California Governor Gavin Newsom has sharply criticised European leaders, accusing them of “complicity” in the face of U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial push to take control of Greenland. Speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Newsom urged Europe to “stand tall, strong and united,” warning that silence could embolden unilateral actions that undermine international norms. Trump has justified his Greenland ambitions on national security grounds and has threatened — and now announced — tariffs on European allies opposing a potential U.S. takeover. European governments argue that such tariffs would violate a trade agreement reached with Washington last year. With tensions rising, EU leaders are set to convene an emergency summit in Brussels to discuss possible retaliation and their collective response.
