Pakistan PM is baffled by high chicken rates in the cash-strapped nation. In a meeting attended by Pakistan's food minister, Shehbaz Sharif pulled up officials for chicken becoming a luxury item as Ramazan is approaching. 1 kg of Chicken meat now costs over PKR 700 in Pakistan. Shehbaz Sharif asked officials, 'Why is Chicken so expensive?' as he hinted at profiteering by vendors. The Express Tribune reported details of the meeting in which Sharif ordered “ruthless legal action against hoarders and profiteers”. He was also reportedly told at the meeting that there is no shortage of food items, including wheat, anywhere in the country. However, the Dawn reported that the situation on ground is different.
