A powerful earthquake struck off the coast of Japan’s Aomori Prefecture late Monday night, registering a maximum intensity of 6-plus in Hachinohe City and triggering tsunami warnings across the Pacific coasts of Hokkaido, Aomori, and Iwate. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi confirmed that seven people were injured as the government activated its Crisis Management Centre to assess the damage.
