Rare white lion celebrates 1st birthday in Baghdad zoo

A zoo in Iraq is rearing a white lion cub and officials say they're hoping to welcome another one of the unusual big cats in the coming month. The male cub is hosted at Iraq's Al Zawra Zoo. He's the first lion to have been born in Iraq and his white genetic mutation make him extremely rare. Al Zawra Zoo's animal population was decimated during the 2003 war. Officials say the cub's mother is pregnant again and they are hoping to welcome another white cub. white lions are a rare genetic mutation unique to the Timbavati & Kruger National Park areas of Southern Africa. There are less than 13 white lions left in the wild & upto 300 in captivity.
