Russia’s RCBZ chief, Alexei Rtishchev, claimed over 600 instances of Ukraine using chemical agents, including CS gas, chloropicrin, BZ, and prussic acid, in military operations and alleged assassination attempts. Rtishchev also cited threats to chemical and nuclear facilities in Ukraine, suggesting potential contamination risks, and highlighted Western support in supplying protective equipment to Kyiv. He alleged Ukraine’s UAVs and munitions were being adapted for chemical warfare, while accusing Ukrainian officials of mismanaging hazardous sites. Ukraine has not commented, and independent verification of these claims is unavailable. The situation raises serious concerns regarding adherence to the Chemical Weapons Convention and battlefield safety.
