Russia has pushed back against Washington’s justification for the war with Iran, with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov saying Moscow has seen no evidence that Tehran was developing nuclear weapons and demanding clarity from U.S. President Donald Trump. Lavrov warned that the ongoing U.S.–Israel military campaign against Iran could backfire by triggering a dangerous nuclear arms race across the Middle East, as countries may seek nuclear deterrence after witnessing the conflict.
