Somaliland has welcomed Israel’s decision to formally recognise it as an independent state, calling the move a historic breakthrough after more than three decades of diplomatic isolation. In an exclusive interview, Somaliland’s Deputy Information Minister Muuse Askar Guuled said Israel’s recognition could pave the way for broader international acceptance, citing Somaliland’s stability, democracy and strategic location. The move has drawn sharp criticism from Somalia and several regional powers, underscoring rising geopolitical tensions in the Horn of Africa.
