Russia President Vladimir Putin said that members of LGBTQ community and their culture are a part of modern society, and deserve to be represented in cinema. However, he criticised the alleged trend in western movie contests in which films only portraying LGBTQ issues win awards. His comments came amid reports that the Russian government had filed a plea in the Supreme Court to ban the LGBTQ "international extremist movement". Watch the full video for more.
