Watch | Weather phenomenon forms hundreds of snowballs in lake

Updated on Jan 03, 2016 02:23 pm IST

Maine resident Dave Allen got to see a very unusual sight on Tuesday. He filmed hundreds of large snowballs, all grouped together in a lake in Sebago, Maine.

The video shot by Dave Allen shows water gently lapping against land with hundreds of snowballs just beneath the surface.

Allen thought the strange phenomenon was the result of the snow accumulating under the water after a storm.

He also said that there was a small jetty nearby which provided a kind of “catch all” for the collection of snow balls, or at least that was his “best guess”.
